The Board of directors
President Jordan Pinckney
Jordan is President of Bearing the Flame. Through 20 years of working with underserved families and children, he has witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of fatherlessness. Because of this, he has developed a passionate heart to serve both families and the community that should support them. He has a call to come alongside men especially as they learn be the biblical leaders they are designed to be.
As a husband and father of two children himself, he takes the God-given responsibility of biblical manhood very seriously.
He’s a book-worm in the mornings and his children’s tackling dummy by night. He’s a terrible artist himself, but enthusiastically supports his beautiful wife’s art business.
Jordan sees the world as a place of wonder and potential, and above all loves Christ with all his heart. He is a firm believer that a life fully lived for Jesus is a life full of praise and worship to the Most High God no matter what that assignment looks like.
He’s a certified team member of John Maxwell Leadership.
Vice President Austin Lynch
Austin served two tours in Iraq and Afghanistan as a US Marine. His military experience, as well as the years following his return to civilian life, developed in him a true heart for veterans and their families. He believes there is a need for more support of male role models and father figures that enables both strength and vulnerability. His wife also has the heart of a warrior, and together they are raising two warrior children. With his extensive background in the trades, auto mechanics, and timber work, Austin recognizes the value of service throughout the community.
Treasurer Chris Rock
Chris has the heart of an intercessor. His tender yet passionate heart for the Kingdom of God truly exemplifies what a man who is submitted to God looks like. Working as a mail carrier for nearly a decade, he uses that time driving and walking the city streets to pray over the homes and people on his route. Chris is a true “behind the scenes” man who does Kingdom work that affects many but few will ever know about.
He desires to see Cedar Rapids and the surrounding areas, as a city on a hill - and he believes it’ll happen through diligent prayer. His wife is a gifted and talented photographer, their three children are his treasures.
